- How to work with GDOT? What's their process? How do citizens
effectively engage in GDOT's public input sessions around the SR400/I-85
project?
- Define/review basic transportation terminology including things
like - transportation improvements, road diets, etc.
- Examine what's included in a traffic study? When do they occur? How
do we interpret the results?
- Light rail and street cars have been proposed in the area, what do
we need to know about these forms of transit to engage effectively in
future planning conversations? What's the difference between light rail,
heavy rail, and street cars? Are there pros and cons to each?
- There is strong interest in making pedestrian improvements including
adding crosswalks, sidewalks, and a reduced speed limit on LaVista Road.
Are all of these good ideas? Are there any ramifications to these? How
do we go about getting these improvements?
- Where does funding for transportation projects come from? How do you
get a transportation improvement on the books? What does this process
look like? Is it different in Fulton County, City of Atlanta, DeKalb
County?
In addition, we hope
to have on display the proposed intersection improvements to the three main
intersections within our coalition: LaVista/Cheshire Bridge/Lindbergh,
LaVista/Briarcliff, and Briarcliff/Clifton.
