Help Build a Playground at Kittredge Park

Friends of Kittredge Park (FKP), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been developing the 33-acre Kittredge Park (located behind Adams Stadium, across from Target on North Druid Hills Road) for the past 6 years, has been selected for an $85,000 grant from KaBOOM! (www.kaboom.org), a national non-profit that helps build community playgrounds. This is our golden opportunity to have a wonderful, new 2,500 square-feet playground — to be located at the park’s eastern entrance off of Holly Lane — that will serve the neighborhoods in our area.

DONATE:  In order for this project to go forward, we homeowners need to raise our 10% of the cost — or $8,500 — by early March. Some monies have already been raised, but we still have a ways to go. Accordingly, FKP needs your tax-deductible donation — regardless of the amount — if we’re going to help make this happen!  If they don’t raise the money, then we won’t get the playground.  Please donate either online at www.gofundme.com/playground2015, or send your check to: “Friends of Kittredge Park,” 2484 Briarcliff Rd., Box 101, Suite 22, Atlanta 30329. Receipts for tax purposes will be mailed or emailed to you.

CRITICAL DATES AND EVENTS:

– Playground Planning & Design Session on Thurs., Feb. 12 @ The International School Center (2383 North Druid Hills Road):  Children’s Playground Design Session @ 4-5pm (25-30 children of all ages are needed), followed by Adults Playground Workshop @ 5-7pm.  These are the critical planning and design meetings with KaBOOM!’s team of playground planners who will help us get the types of playground equipment that best suits our kids’ needs and desires.

– Playground Build Day on Sat., April 25 @ Kittredge Park Playground Site (off of N Druid Hills and Holly Lane):  Teams of volunteers are urgently needed to actually help build our playground, including assembling and installing the equipment. More details on this to follow, but if you are willing and able to help during the day please let Alan Pinsker or Bill Lide know ASAP (see below).

For more information, please contact Alan Pinsker (alan.pinsker@gmail.com ) or Bill Lide, FKP Volunteer Coordinator (wlide@bellsouth.net).  LaVista Park is represented on the FKP by Gene Schmidt efschmidt@yahoo.com.

On behalf of Friends of Kittredge Park, thank you in advance for your donation to help make this long-envisioned playground a reality for our neighborhood!
